Website costs for NC trade companies

How much does a website cost for a plumbing, HVAC or electrical company in North Carolina? Prices for the same job vary a lot, because "a website" can mean a one-page template or a system that books jobs. The fix is to compare the same scope. This post shows what to ask for.

The short answer

A site costs whatever the quote itemizes, so ask for the list. Firmkit publishes its price: $1,000 a month on a 12‑month term with setup included, covering a hand-coded site, a Google Business Profile, a CRM and a missed-call text-back. Other providers vary, and Firmkit does not quote their prices because it cannot verify them.

Ask for the list, not the total

A quote that says "$X for a website" hides what you are buying. Ask the provider to split it into the lines below. Then ask every provider the same questions, so the quotes can be compared.

What a website quote should itemize
Line What to ask
Build Is there a one-time build fee, or is setup included in the monthly price?
Monthly fee What is the monthly price, and what does it cover?
Term How long is the contract, and what does it cost to leave early?
Hosting and SSL Are hosting and the security certificate included?
Domain Who registers the domain, and is it in your name?
Edits How many edits are included, and what does each extra edit cost?
Google Business Profile Is the profile set up and kept current, or is it extra?
Call handling What happens to a call nobody answers? Is a text-back included?
Ownership Who owns the code, the content and the call-tracking number if you leave?

One-time and monthly are different things

Some providers charge a build fee and then a small monthly fee. Others charge a higher monthly fee and no build fee. Add up twelve months for each one before you compare. A low monthly price with a large build fee can cost more in year one.

Costs that show up later

  • Plugin or template licenses that renew each year.
  • Per-edit charges for changing a phone number or a service.
  • A call-tracking number that belongs to the provider, so you lose it when you leave.
  • A separate fee for your Google profile.
  • A separate tool for text-back or follow-up.

What the Firmkit price covers

For that monthly price, the Kit includes a hand-coded site of up to eight pages, hosting and SSL, a managed Google profile, a CRM, a missed-call text-back inside 60 seconds, a review request after each closed job and a one-page report each month. If you leave before month twelve, the remaining months are due, or you can buy out the build for $2,500. You own the code, the domain, the profile, the data and the tracked number. The full terms are on the pricing page.

Ad spend, ad management and video production are not included. The Full Stack is $1,750 a month and adds custom backend tools, up to three locations and two new pages or posts a month.

What this post does not tell you

It does not give an average price for North Carolina, because Firmkit has not found a source it can verify. If you find a range from a provider, record the web address and the date you read it, and ask the provider whether it includes the lines above.

Your next step

Take the free 60‑second audit to see which part of your setup is weakest. Then ask three providers for the same itemized quote, including Firmkit.

Questions

Should a plumber pay for a website monthly or once?

Either can work. A one-time build costs more up front, and a monthly plan spreads the cost. Add up twelve months for each option, then check who owns the site and what leaving costs. Firmkit charges monthly, with setup included.

What does a Firmkit website cost?

The Kit price is in the short answer at the top. The Full Stack is $1,750 a month. Prices are published on the pricing page.

Do I own my website if I leave?

It depends on the provider, so ask in writing. With Firmkit you own the code, your domain, your Google profile, your CRM data, your photos and your tracked number, handed over within 14 days of leaving.
