How the numbers are worked out
The formula, in words
Score = 100 x (sum of weight x result) / (sum of weights for checks that apply)
Result: pass = 1, partly = 0.5, fail = 0. Step 1 and Step 2 score separately and combine only when both are filled.
Speed grades: good = 1, between good and poor = 0.5, poor = 0, at the cutoffs shown beside each speed field.
The page is read as text. We look for tags, never run the page, and never put what you paste into this page. Over 500 KB is refused so a huge paste cannot freeze your browser.
What the tool cannot know
- Whether Google can crawl the page. Robots rules and server settings are outside the page source.
- How the page looks. A page can pass every check and still be hard to read.
- Real-world speed on your customers’ phones. Use the numbers from your own PageSpeed run.
- Title and description lengths are common guidance. Google sets no fixed limit.

Questions people ask
What is a good title length?
About 30 to 60 characters is common guidance, because longer titles often get cut off in results. Google sets no fixed limit and may rewrite a title anyway. Put your service and your town first, then your company name. Write it for a person scanning results, not for a robot.
Do I need schema markup?
It is not required, but LocalBusiness structured data states your name, phone, address and hours in a form machines read cleanly. It does not guarantee a ranking or a rich result. It helps search engines and AI assistants match your site to your Google profile. The report builds a block from your own details.
What are Core Web Vitals?
They are three speed and stability measures Google publishes: LCP for how fast the main content appears, INP for how quickly the page reacts to a tap, and CLS for how much the layout jumps. Each has a good range. Run your page at PageSpeed Insights and type the numbers here.
Why paste the source instead of entering my web address?
Browsers stop one site from reading another, so a tool in your browser cannot fetch your page. Pasting also keeps your page private, because nothing leaves your device. The address box only builds a link to Google’s PageSpeed Insights for your speed numbers. Copy your page source with the bookmarklet or View Source.
What is INP?
INP stands for Interaction to Next Paint. It measures how long the page takes to respond after a visitor taps, clicks or types, using one of the slowest interactions during a visit. Under 200 milliseconds is good. Heavy scripts, chat widgets and tracking tags are common causes of a slow score.
