How the numbers are worked out

    The formula, in words

Each answer adds points to Profile, Follow-up or Website. The table below lists every answer and its points.

The area with the most points is first. Ties go to the Profile, then Follow-up, then the Website, because that order is cheapest and fastest.

If no area reaches 2 points, the result is None. Keep doing what you are doing.

The points are our judgment, not a measured model. They are not weighted by search volume or by what your competitors do.

    The points table

Each answer adds points to one or more areas. The area with the most points is first. This is our judgment, printed so you can argue with it.

    What the tool cannot know

    • Your local competition and how strong their profiles are.
    • Search demand for your trade in your area.
    • Whether your site or profile has a hidden problem you did not know to report.
    • How good your jobs are. Marketing does not fix that.

    • No outside statistic is used. The ordering is our own judgment, based on cost and speed: a profile fix is free and fast, a website takes longer, and follow-up costs only time. A planning aid, not a promise of results.

    Questions people ask

Should I build a website or fix my Google profile first?

For most small trade companies, fix the profile first. It is free, takes days and sits where local searches start. Build or repair the website first if you have none, or it loads slowly or does not work on a phone. If leads already reach you but few book, fix follow-up before either.

Can I skip the website and use only a Google profile?

You can start that way, and many small companies do. A profile has a website link, so a missing site leaves a gap. Customers often check a site before they call, and a profile alone limits what you can show and answer. Treat the profile as step one, not the finish line.

How long until a profile fix brings calls?

No one can promise a date. Changes to a profile can show within days, but rankings depend on competition, reviews and distance. Fix the basics, ask every customer for a review and track your calls for a month. Compare that month with the one before. Your own data is the only honest answer.

What do you mean by follow-up?

Follow-up is what happens after someone contacts you: how fast you answer a missed call, how you handle an estimate and how you ask for a review. Many leads are lost there, not in search. When enquiries arrive but few become jobs, better follow-up can raise income without more leads.

What if I have neither a website nor a profile?

Claim and verify your Google Business Profile first, because it is free and fast. Then build a simple site with your phone number, your services and real photos. Set up a missed-call text at the same time, so the new calls are not wasted. The 30‑day sequence lays this out.

    Fix the free things first

The 60‑second audit looks at your site, your Google profile and your follow-up. Your score shows without an email.
